Lizzo Stuns Audience and Reels in Trophies at 2020 Grammys

Lizzo is the underdog star of female pop. She’s endured plenty of hardships and obstacles throughout the years. When she was 21, her father’s death led to her living out of her car while she worked to make a breakthrough into the music scene. An even more particularly hurtful challenge was dealing with the loss of her mentor Prince, who had even offered to produce her album before his passing. However, despite her humble beginnings, she made sure to come out on top in last night’s 62nd annual Grammys.
Following the trend of other artists such as Tyler the Creator, Lil Nas X, and more, Lizzo refused to allow herself to be encapsulated in one particular genre, as she brought in 3 Grammy awards. She won these prestigious awards in Pop Solo Performance for her album Truth Hurts, Urban Contemporary Album for “Cuz I Love You” and Best Traditional R&B Performance for her single “Jerome.” Her success is sure to skyrocket even higher, and will very likely continue the fad of genre-bending artists. Go Lizzo!
