How Mariah Carey prevailed Against All Odds
America’s Songbird Supreme adds to her Memoir of an Imperfect Angel and opens up about a battle that she never wanted to expose to her fans.
Five-time Grammy Award winning Mariah Carey reveals in a recent interview that she has been battling with Bipolar ll Disorder since early 2001, when she was first diagnosed. For almost 17 years, Carey has been in denial about the disorder and never wanted to go public about the issue, in fear that she will forever be judged. From a reality show that would only last one season and romantic drama that led to a divorce after six years, the legendary singer faced months of turmoil and the hardest couple of years of her life.
As one of the most successful recording artists of all time, Carey recently decided that it was time to shake it off and receive treatment for her disorder. The singer shared that she wants to lift the stigma of anyone going through anything alone and reminding her fans that angels cry too. While co-parenting her twins with ex-husband Nick Cannon, Carey is also in therapy and taking medication as required. Although the album was released in 2005, 2018 may truly be the year for The Emancipation of Mimi.
