“Golden State Killer” Case Closed
After an almost 40 year-search, the serial murderer and rapist known as the “Golden State Killer” has finally been taken into custody by authorities. Joseph James DeAngelo has been identified as the suspect involved in 12 murders and at least 50 rapes across California from 1976 to 1986. The suspect was also known as the “Original Night Stalker” and “East Area Rapist.”
The 72 year-old is currently being held in custody without bail. Ironically, DeAngelo was a former police officer who was fired after shoplifting a can of dog repellent and a hammer from a drug store. Authorities say he could have been committing some of his murders while on duty.
This cold case may sound a little too familiar to Robert Durst, an American real estate heir who went years under the radar for allegedly killing his former wife, friend, and neighbor. After being interviewed on the HBO documentary, “The Jinx,” Durst was exposed and taken into custody. These two killers may have escaped their fate for years, but its safe to say that both of these cold cases are finally closed.
