The Woman with the Midas Touch Joins Big Little Lies
As if they needed a ratings boost, Oscar winner Meryl Streep
will be joining the cast of HBO’s “Big Little Lies” for season two. The
Jersey-native is set to play Mary Louis Wright, (spoiler!) a certain deceased
character’s concerned mother. She’ll be starring alongside Emmy winner Nicole
Kidman, her costar in 2002’s The Hours.
BLL won’t be Streep’s first rodeo in television, though. The
actress has held roles shows like Web
Therapy (2005) and Angels in America
(2003), and lent her voice to King of the
Hill and The Simpsons. The new appearance comes at a good time, as the actress has just been nominated for her twenty-second Oscar nomination.
Actress, writer and director Andrea Arnold will also be a
new face on set as Jean-Marc Vallée passes the directing baton. But Vallée isn’t
going far, she will remain in production as an executive producer.
