Dawn Staley Scores the NCAA Trophy
Let’s toast it up to the University of South Carolina’s
Women’s Basketball team for winning the NCAA national championship over the
Mississippi State Bulldogs. Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley finally hoisted the championship
trophy after losing to Stanford in the Final Four 25 years ago as a guard for
the University of Virginia (UVA). Another accomplishment Staley can notch off
her belt.
Dawn Staley was a fierce player in her playing days. Her
resume is stacked, to say the least. She reached the Final Four three-times
with UVA, she appeared in the 2001 WNBA Finals with the Charlotte Stings and she’s
recently been named the head coach of the US Olympic team in 2020. Now she’s
the coach of the NCAA champions the South Carolina Gamecocks. Staley from
Philly has monumental place in Women’s basketball history.
