No More Victories for Victor
Victor Cruz got dropped! Known for his salsa moves in the in zone, New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz was released from his contract. With that decision New York opened up $7.5 million in cap space. Cruz was an undrafted free agent from Patterson, New Jersey who stated that his seven year ride with the Giants was an “amazing journey”. After being out the on injured reserve the majority of his rookie season Cruz came back in 2011 and 2012 with back to back 1000 yard seasons.
He caught a touchdown pass in the Giants victory during Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots. Since those career highlights he has struggled. In October 2014 he tore a patellar tendon and missed the entire 2015 season. But the Giants had back up with their new wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr.
Cruz is taking his release professionally stating that "There are so many experiences, times and moments that I shared in that building with that team in that jersey. Those can't be replaced or forgotten. I'm happy I have those moments to look back on." Even though Cruz is no longer a member of the Giants team, Giants general manager, Jerry Reese stated that Cruz “Will always be one of the Great Giants.”
