Jamie-Lynn Siegler Has MS
Sopranos’ star Jamie-Lynn Sigler
reveals that she has been battling multiple sclerosis for the past 15 years.
The 34-year-old actress told People magazine
that she was diagnosed with MS at age 20 while she was on The Sopranos. She says that she kept her illness a
secret on the set, telling People
that, "Sometimes all I needed was like five or 10 minutes to sit and
recharge but I wouldn't ask, because I didn't want them to be suspicious."
She experienced symptoms of tingliness and heaviness in her legs quite often.
Sigler decided to
reveal her biggest secret just days after marrying her husband Cutter Dykstra,
with whom she has a 2-year-old son.
"I'm at a point in my life with my son, with my new
marriage, it's a new me," says Sigler. "I don't want to hold a secret
where it feels like I have something to be ashamed of or have something to
hide.”
She also shared an inspirational Instagram post about how
she hopes to help and inspire people who also struggle with the disease to come
forward and not be ashamed about it.
Sigler is excited to start the year with a fresh beginning after
revealing her struggle and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for
her.
