Empire's DeThroned by Emmys
The best in show have been voted on and the nominations are here! The primetime programs that are among the best of the best have received nominations for the 67th annual Emmy Awards. Leading the pack is everyone’s favorite novel turned HBO hit Game of Thrones has 24 nominations.
While the show everyone figured had its own throne, Empire which was a cash crop for Fox didn’t stand a chance against some of the other shows this past year. Despite it being such a hit with the fans for its awesome story line and A-list cast, Empire seems to have been snubbed from the awards. The show has three nominations including Taraji P. Henson, who is nominated for best actress in a drama. The other nominations were for costume scores.
We were hoping to see more for the Lee Daniels directed hit show. There was a lot of speculation on whether Fox would bring back the series, which has been renewed for the fall. Some of the best stars in Hollywood have been cast to be on season two including Tyrese Gibson and Chris Rock. Empire might be a fan favorite but it wasn’t a favorite for the Emmy’s voting committee. The awards show will air September 20.
