The
Duggar girls spoke out about the allegations that their brother Josh Duggar had
molested five underage girls that took place when he was a teen. To make
matters worse, the parents of the Duggar clan Jim Bob and Michelle waited 16
months before alerting police of their son’s actions. Failing to report the
crime could have resulted in six years in prison for Jim Bob and Michelle, but
the statute of limitations have expired.
In light of the allegations, Josh
Duggar has resigned from his job with the Family Research Council, a lobbying
group in Washington, D.C. The Duggar family, known for their Christian values,
have received a lot of backlash especially in the wake of both Michelle and Jim
Bob stating the members of the LGBT community as being a “threat” to the safety
of children late last year.
According
to documentation from the Washington County Sheriff’s office in Arkansas
obtained by InTouch, a 14-year-old Josh Duggar had been sneaking in his
sisters’ rooms at night while they were sleeping and fondling their “breasts
and genitals.” The 27-year-old Josh Duggar has made statements regarding his
actions referring to them as “mistakes” and “wrongdoings.”
As far as his sisters’, Jessa
Duggar was quoted by Us Weekly stating that:
“I do want to speak up in his defense against
people calling him a child molester or a pedophile or a rapist…that is so
overboard and a lie really.”

Four of the five reported victims
on police record were Josh Duggar’s sisters. TLC has stopped playing reruns of
19 Kids and Counting, the show documenting the Duggar family, and various
advertisers have pulled their ads from the station. TLC has not canceled the
show indefinitely.
