Wil's Fierce Five: Hair Stylist, Makup Artist and Style coach Wil Strayhorn
The Oscar Red Carpet
was a star-studded sea of Hollywood's most celebrated A-Listers. Most donned gorgeous hair, exquisite jewelry,
flawless makeup and stunning evening gowns but how many, in my opinion, got it
just right? Here is the rundown of my “Fierce
Five.”
#5- Viola Davis glowed like a nubian queen as she graced the red carpet wearing a champagne Zac Posen off the shoulder evening gown displaying her glistening milk chocolate skin. Her hair, natural and in coils, her makeup, tastefully dramatic with a bold deep lip--sealing this amazing look! She has certainly come a long way so “Kudos!” on being inducted into the Fierce Five.
#4 Lupita
Nyongo commanded everyone's attention as she displayed 6,000 hand sewn
pearls on a custom, white, open-back gown by Calvin Klein. The fabric seemed to caress and hug every
curve of her body revealing a perfectly toned and well built physique. As a natural beauty, Lupita was wise to keep
her hair simple, makeup light and jewels to an absolute minimum and rightfully
so! Can you imagine how much a 6,000 pearl-adorned gown weighs!?
#3 Kelly
Osbourne- “Don't Look Surprised!” I actually loved Kelly Osbourne in her
glam-goth Rita Vinieris gown with it's high-low hem line. Kelly is often snubbed on the red carpet with
her sometimes “questionable” fashion choices but call me crazy, “by George I
think she's finally got it!” Her
gown was definitely the focal point and everything else kindly played second fiddle.
Her makeup, very chic and polished as was her lavender tinted hair sleeked up
in a modern, elegant pompadour. She's got my vote!
#2 Rosamund
Pike “Gone Girl!” I was
completely mesmerized by this stunning red custom Givenchy lace dress with high
slit. Against her pale-pink complexion,
she looked AMAZING! The strapless gown
perfectly displayed her gorgeous neckline and did you see her waistline!? The Oscar winner recently had a baby, however
the evidence was not visible as she accentuated her tiny waist with a thin red
belt. Her neutral toned makeup and brows groomed to sheer perfection gave her a
face reminiscent of an angel. Heavenly!
#1(drum
roll please) Jennifer Lopez was the showstopping, eye-popping scene
stealing queen of the red carpet. To me
she is a sure fire hit on every red carpet event and again she did not
disappoint me. Appearing half princess / half sex siren she wore a spectacular
nude colored sparkling tulle gown from Elie Saab. Jennifer left little to the
imagination showing skin, skin and more skin with a near-waist plunging
neckline. Romantic, soft and dewy was
her choice in makeup and who would blame her? Her dress stole the show!
The fashion didn't fail to disappoint at this
year's Oscars. In an array of elaborate custom-made creations our biggest stars
transformed the red carpet into a runway not to be forgotten for many years to
come.
